Brand spanking new with crusty beak and all. A little Killdeer partially hidden in some bushes next to a ditch along the side of a quiet dirt road. Why do Killdeer seem to nest so close to roads?

This Hermit Thrush made just a long enough appearance to allow us a quick photo before hopping back into the undergrowth of the forest. A nice treat to see a bird we usually only get to hear. It has such a wonderful song. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Hermit_Thrush/sounds
