With just a hint of those youthful spots left behind this curious youngster looks us over as sit and watch on a fall morning not so long ago.

Between the clouds, the wind and even a little snow, sunlight adds a bit of contrast to it all.

A Dusky Grouse keeping quiet while waiting for us to move along as we walked through the cottonwood trees in the creek bed. Seeing these birds move through the dry leaves and into the cottonwood trees with colors so similar to their own just makes a fall day feel…just like fall.
Floating, shifting shapes,appearing and disappearing. Sometimes the life of a cloud seems just right.

We had not seen a Green Tailed Towhee all summer so it was quite a pleasure to see one of these secretive birds in the distance a week or two ago.

Where they came from and where they are going is an age old question.

Older than I and far much wiser this old spruce hunkers down for another evening.
