Snowy Muzzle
This good looking guy with a bit of a snowy muzzle was photographed earlier this year. I am sure the grasslands where he roams are greening up, and even though he looked quite happy this snowy day, I bet he is happier now that spring has arrived.
Spring surprise
Within a day or so of the ice melting off this small pond a spring surprise occurred.
Looking back
Looking back and enjoying what was and what will be.

Mountain Bluebird
A Mountain Bluebird with a Killdeer behind forage for insects that thrive in the warm waters of a Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park.
The warm waters provide food for birds that have arrived early this year before the spring thaw.
Watching snow melt
Although we have had a nice bevy of spring snows this year the sun rapidly comes out afterwards and thus with each passing snow comes a quick melt down. On a recent walk we took the time to sit and watch the snow melting over a creek which by the way is better than watching paint dry or water boil especially given the fact that “a watched pot never boils”.
Hot bugs in a warm pool
A Killdeer searches the edges of a hot springs pool where ice met warm waters at Mammoth Hot Springs in search of a warm meal on a cold day.

Eye to Eye
Seeing eye to eye with a Great Horned Owl in the Foothills outside of Denver CO. It is a joy to study the intricate feather colors and variations on these birds. That little horizontal stripe of black feathers in the light brown on this ones ears is truly amazing don’t you think?
