In the Wild

Oh the Squirrel. My nemesis in the yard pillaging the bird feeders and outsmarting my attempts to keep them off. In the wild away from the city they are (serious hesitation)  cute and this guy munching a pine cone as the November sky says time to fatten up brought a smile to my face.

Pigeon Tremex Horntail

Looking a bit like a caped and masked superhero this Pigeon Tremex (horn tailed Wasp) was found resting on an Autumn afternoon. Although they look like they could do some damage these wasps are reported to be not naturally aggressive and only sting when provoked just like any good superhero.

For a detailed description I found the link below to do a great job describing them:

Many Coots…flew the coop

Seems like this has been the year of many Coots and this day was no exception. While driving along in Wyoming we came across a lake that looked like it was filled with many Ducks however upon closer inspection it appeared to be filled to the brim with only Coots.

Well looks like I made a blunder and forgot the photo I had chosen for this post. I am away from my computer today so just imagine many coots on this nice fall pond. Not quite a majestic mountain lake at the base of a majestic mountain range but pretty nonetheless. Thanks to everyone who pointed out the missing photo.
