    1. Hi Hanne, it really is a very cool place. I can see why it is one of your favorite places. I had a great but way to short stay in the Thorsmork and would like to return to explore more some day. Happy Earth Day.

      1. Actually, I don’t know Þórsmörk in particular, but Iceland in general. Been there up to 6 times now, I think. Going again this summer! And it’s always too short, when visiting Iceland 🙂
        Happy Earth Day Mike.

This is an amazing place indeed. I have been there myself, actually on both sides of that valley. The sheer dimensions are well and truly overwhelming.

    1. Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I have yet to be able to make it to the other side of the valley. It must be amazing. I only got to spend a day there and long for a 3-4 backpacking and camping trip up the valley and over the volcanos. Sounds like fun. So many things to do. Hope you have a great Earth Day and all the best.

Definitely take your time there. I hadn’t had too much time but it’s really worth it. If you can pack some waterproof boots and don’t go alone. The closer you get to the Gigjökull the rougher the terrain. The sheer power of water and ice is overwhelming.
Even if you don’t understand German you may want to have a look at my blog for my account of my hiking there.

Best regards and have a good time, too.

        1. Thanks so much for all the information. I live in a pretty dry climate so the thought of muck boots always slips my mind. I will give reading your post in german a try and if need be Google translate might give me the gist of things. Take care and thanks again for the info.
