All’s well that ends well. Several weeks latter we spotted these newly hatched killdeers, and several others, along the side of the road hiding in the short grass and exploring the world and each other.
Thanks Elina, we were glad to see these guys, with their nest so close to the road, made it. Love the new BW photos you are producing. Have a great one.
Thanks Laura and humor is always welcome and encourage around here. These guys were running around in and out of the grass so fast we felt lucky just to get a somewhat crisp shot. The circumstanses required a lower than optimal f-stop but there results were indeed pleasant.
Hi Eliza, indeed those heads as well as those eyes are so darn big. I also like the crusty stuff on their beaks which looks like some of the membrane inside the eggs and suggests these guys are pretty darn new. They were really small little guys.
Hi and thanks for the feedback as we really appreciate comments. They do look like they are both surprised at seeing each other as well as their being something familiar about each other. These guys were really small and must be only a few day sold. Hope you have a great day.
So sweet! Such a great photo! 🙂

Sreejith, thanks. The caption just seems right as they sure seem to be using each other as a mirror to find out who they each are.

That is always a worry! I guess they don’t concern themselves with location, location, location!

I am not sure they have been told that old adage and in fact I bet they sure thought they had a great location. 🙂
Hope you have had a great day.
