Flight

flight

These swallows were busy foraging for dinner over lake John near Walden, CO. Watching them forage that evening was a lesson in flight itself.

    1. Thanks Alice, our technique is to use a fast shutter speed and try to pan with the birds. Just pick one in the group and try your best to pan. To be onset most of these types of shots are not keepers but persistence pays off and sometimes a few in the bunch are good. Hope you have a wonderful day.

          1. Thanks Mike. I have the 80-400 Nikon and understand completely your comment about “barely” being able to hold the lens stable. It is a great lens and I have gotten some good captures with birds who come to visit our feeders here in North Carolina. As a field lens, however, it is Papa Bear of a lens. Well, we just do the best we can. I do love swallows and will continue trying my best to get a capture as good as yours. Thanks.
