Really nice, Mike! Love the eye just out of the foliage. I have never seen one that close in the wild. My husband Bill sees them.He is doing a lot of work in the Gunnison area, restoring wetland areas for Gunnison sage grouse. He sees them on his way up. I’m not so lucky when I go with him. Oh well, one of these days. Magnificent creatures.
Happy Festive Season

Thanks Mary, we see these guys fairly often and hope you get a chance too sometime in the future. Sounds like your Husband is doing some very important an interesting work for the sage grouse. Tell him thanks for us and that is one bird we sure would like to observe someday.

What a great, clear-eye shot – he looks quite intent on putting on the weight!

Hi Eliza, I hope this one did put on a few pounds as it was looking a bit small and probably this was its first winter.
