We think this guy/gal is immature and has not developed the red in the tail as of yet. I fin dHawk ID a very difficult proposition given there are so many morphs and sorting out immature from mature features. Many times I feel it is just a guessing game and hope we guessed right this time.
Lovely. Where is the red in the tail – just asking not to comment on the photo but more to know to identify one if I ever see one.

Lovely photo! Did you removed the background during post processing, or did you overexpose the sky ?
Kind regards,

Hi Tieme, the sky was a bit overexposed so I adjusted levels to make the sky just a bit whiter and remove a tad bit of the grey cast in the photo.

Thanks, a very pale white-grey-blue sky was the starting point. I just adjusted out those other colors.

Thanks Laura, the sky was very monotone and a very light grey-blue so I adjusted the levels to make it whiter. Hope your day is going well.

Our hawk was being harried by crows the other day, but I knew I would never get a very good picture. This is fabulous!

That is a scene we also see quite often. The crows chasing hawks and the smaller birds chasing crows. What goes around comes around so to speak.
