Just for a moment

Barn_swallow_2

The Barn Swallows were busy swirling and whirling in typical swallow fashion hunting for an early season hatch of bugs present in the air above a small lake. Photographing them in flight is always quite the challenge. Luckily for us this guy decided to settle down for a quick rest and landed on a section of barbed wire fence close to us. He stayed there for just a moment making for a relaxed and restful photograph of a bird that seems to be in otherwise constant motion. Near Walden, CO.

Beautiful shot! They are hard enough just to keep in binocular view, more less camera! Nice that it landed. Such pretty birds. I love all swallows.

  2. We all seek those classic shots of birds in natural flight, but as you said the Swallows are almost always in constant motion. Congrats on a very rare shot of one at rest, a very difficult shot to capture!

    1. Thanks for the compliments and taking your time to leave a little feedback. We appreciate it. It is always an exercise in pushing the delete key when going through birds in flight photos especially swallows so it was nice to collect a little still portrait of these beautiful Barn Swallows. Have a great day and thanks again.

Lovely pic. Have you ever managed to capture one in flight? You mention it is a challenge and I agree…I once spent a good half hour surrounded by them zooming around me and came away with almost nothing,
