This good looking guy was floating on the local pond near sunset on a cold winter day. We only see Lesser Scaups a few times each winter so we just sat for awhile soaking up that amazing color in his head feathers.
They are wintering here in northern Virginia. I’ve seen them diving in the river, and also on a little shallow urban pond!! I do like the look of them.
