Sun Dog

A sun dog shining brightly near the Karlae Glacier in East Greenland. Photographed on a kayaking trip last summer and yes, this sundog did portend for a dramatic weather change, and not for the better.

Aah! Beautiful! I have not seen a Sundog so far – I wonder how beautiful it looks in real when it looks so stunning in photographs! Regards.

Really nice, Mike. I like how you put the sun in the upper right corner and didn’t try to keep the whole dog. What stark terrain!

    Well, it turned out great, and I like the restraint you showed by letting the lighter colored rocks in the foreground control the composition. It made me think a lot about my own style.

      Thanks Dave, for me the rocks were as big a part of the composition as the sun dog. BOth the lighter and brightly colored rocks together.

I’ve seen sun dogs in Alaska and in Utah, they never cease to amaze!
