White faced Ibis

We photographed this White Faced Ibis which appeared to be roosting in a small lake on a cloudy morning. We had never seen Ibis on this lake and in fact very rarely see them in our area at all. About 10 minutes after we photographed them the flock took off and we have yet to see Ibis on this lake again.

  1. Nice capture. Since it was cloudy you were able to get the beautiful colors in its plumage. We get them here in New Mexico during the winter months. Beautiful bird.

  2. I’ve had similar experiences with the white-faced ibis, Mike, flocks unpredictable. It is usually so difficult to see the iridescence–that you captured it, and so eloquently, is a marvel.

Once again, I would like to use one of your photos on my blog. You have graciously given me general permission, but I want to make sure you know that I will honor any request to remove one of your images. I think you get a ‘ping back’ when I use one. Your photos are an inspiration on so many levels.

Wow! Seems odd to focus on the white face, when it came to naming it. But then, with so many colors going on, it must’ve been hard to choose. 🙂 🙂

feedback welcome
