We photographed this White Faced Ibis which appeared to be roosting in a small lake on a cloudy morning. We had never seen Ibis on this lake and in fact very rarely see them in our area at all. About 10 minutes after we photographed them the flock took off and we have yet to see Ibis on this lake again.

Nice capture. Since it was cloudy you were able to get the beautiful colors in its plumage. We get them here in New Mexico during the winter months. Beautiful bird.

I’ve had similar experiences with the white-faced ibis, Mike, flocks unpredictable. It is usually so difficult to see the iridescence–that you captured it, and so eloquently, is a marvel.
