Soon the Black Bears will awake from their winters slumber and grace the forest with their presence after a quiet winter. That’s not a bad thing at all. We may see one or we may not but just knowing they are there brings a special fullness to our human lives.
Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend.
Is the light marking on the face an indication of maturity, or something else?
Hi Jim, i have searched for an answer to your question but so far no luck. Most black bears I see have that coloration on the muzzle to some degree.
Oh, those eyes– well done, Mike. Happy weekend to you both.
She is a beauty for sure.
Beautiful portrait!
Thanks Belinda.
What a great photograph – here’s hoping you spot a few when they emerge (from a reasonable distance…)
HI Adam, and we do hope we see a few bears again this summer and as you note from a reasonable distance.
Fabulous image, Mike!
Thanks Jane, hope you are having a great weekend.
Just got back from Carrizo Plain…amazing super bloom in CA! 🙂
We are still deep in snow around here but it will melt just as fast as it piled up and although hard to believe we will be deep in flowers as well. Hop you enjoyed your super bloom. Was it caused by the wet winter you had in CA?
Yes. Had a very rainy winter. It’s better than the bloom in 2017. 👍🏻😄
We will have to follow the weather in CA one year and make it that way to experience a super bloom one spring.
You and your lens would love it!
Yes, a big splash of color right about this time of year would be a welcome sight and big fun to photograph.
I love their faces. They have expressions.
Hi and yes they do have such expressive faces that express. Now we just need to pay attention to those expressions.
