As we sat quietly waiting for a group of Waxwings to show up in the berry filled shrubs nearby this fine looking fellow strolled up to within 10 feet or so from us. He seemed not too worried about our presence and went about foraging as he made his way through the forest.
Have you ever noticed the pupil on some animals is a horizontal slit?
Hi Jim and yes we have. Many deer, sheep and some goats infect seem to have this type of pupil
Interesting! A nice surprise!
It was and the waxwings came back as well. Hop your week is going well.
Going well. Thanks!
Wonderful.
What a glorious moment that must’ve been to be so close to this beautiful buck. Wonderful that you could capture it so expertly, Mike.
Hi Jet, just a quick point and hope for the best as he quickly moved on.
Such a beautiful animal and they have the most amazing eyes 😀
He is a good looking dude indeed.
Same eyes as goats and sheep, they must be related somehow, I’d guess.
I believe they are all found in grazing prey animals and the horizontal slit expands the animals field of view.
Oh wow!
That’s what he said when he got a glimpse of us staring at him.
I’m sure that’s true!
🙂
