
I have noticed that each fall I end up taking a few shots of milk weed and always say to myself that next fall I need to make a dedicated effort to photograph this wonderful plant. The same happened again this year.

Just as this Bee said adios to the flower we have said adios to our prolonged indian summer. A few light frosts and the lack of sunlight have done in the veggie garden for the year. Yet compared to previous years the mild fall allowed things to grow a few weeks longer and that means one last bowl of fresh tomato soup for dinner tonight.

Getting eye to eye with a local magpie who was hanging out on picnic table waiting for lunch to arrive. Unfortunately picnic season is over. However I am fairly confident the ever resourceful magpie will find a bite to eat somewhere.

Just when you think you are sneaking up nicely to get a good close up this hawk takes notice with a 180 degree turn on the head. I wonder what it would be like to have eyes in the back of your heads. Maxwell wildlife refuge, Maxwell NM.
