Tired Pup

The summer heat and a big yard project has me feeling a bit like this pup that left its pen in the town of Tasiilaq and followed our group on a very long demanding hike. Near the end of the hike we had to negotiate a cliff band which left this pup with a long walk back to town in the other direction. Don’t worry he had a experienced older sibling along and I am sure they easily made it back, albeit a bit more tired than in the photo. Tasiilaq, East Greenland.

Wild Iris

In fields wet with moisture the wild iris are blooming like crazy this year. It is amazing how some years there are so few but when it rains more than usual they explode. They bloom for a few days then dry up and quickly disappear. Nature playing hide and seek.

After a Day of Work

Spring in the City

After a busy day at work we all need some nature therapy. On this day the early evening thunderstorms were rolling in, but heck, things are green, a beam of light is shining through the clouds and if you walk to just the right spot in this busy Denver area park you get a perspective that allows you to breathe.

Along the Snake

Along the Snake

Kayaking down the snake river in Grand Teton National Park always presents numerous opportunities to observe eagles and osprey. This immature bald eagle was hanging out in a wonderful old tree along the shoreline in an area with little current allowing me to get a photo or two before I was moved along on my way by the river.

Sea Foam

Sea Foam

While hiking along the pacific coast on a very windy day we encountered big globs of sea foam, some as big as a softball, being blown up from the sea and over a 50 ft cliff we were looking over. The foamy blobs came whizzing over our heads and then came crashing into the ground. We had a great time watching and trying to capture this experience. Thinking back, these simple experiences that are random and transient directly define the essence of life.
