Hiking up the west elk trail we came across this fine looking Red Bellied Marmot hanging out in rocks that matched her fur. A perfect little hangout on a nice summer afternoon. Crested Butte, CO.

Ribbit

Frog in the local pond giving us a look over. He was probably relieved to see we were not one of the Herons hanging out around the shore looking for a meal.
Pleasant Surprise
This white tailed deer was photographed on a recent trip to visit family in the midwest. Living in the mountain west for so long I can say for certain I don’t miss the humidity and all the bugs. It sure was fun was running across this deer happily feeding away and hardly giving us a second look as we hiked through the woods. I had forgotten how small white-tailed deer can be.
Lip Smacking
Is a lip smacking feast awaiting this red fox? We caught a brief glimpse of this red fox through the car window while on a quiet country road and it sure looked like they were onto a meal. Before we could see the scene play out the fox moved into the woods and was lost from sight. A brief yet gratifying experience and a tale yet to be told.
Working in the willows
We saw this large male moose working his way across a small clearing knee deep in the willows last weekend. Picking and choosing small mouthfuls to eat yet walking with purpose from left to right. After a few minutes of good viewing this big guy headed back into the forest and out of sight. Medicine Bow National Forest, WY.
Eat Your Greens

What does the Prairie Dog do to refuel after digging holes for several hours, reach for an energy bar or gatorade, no way a nice handful of dandelion green will do the trick.
