Chipping Sparrows

We could hear them all around but the forest was thick and every time I put the camera up to my face they quickly flew away. As we continued our walk I stoped trying to get a photo, put the camera in my backpack and just enjoyed listening to thee Sparrows singing their songs.

As we were getting nearer to our car I finally got a photograph yet what I remember most of that hike is listening to them singing their songs.

The Fungus Among Us

I have always found mushrooms fascinating life forms. Not plant, not animal yet vitally important for the health of both plants and animals. However, they are a bugger to photograph yet I never stop trying.

Paul Stamets wrote a great book on Fungus call Mycellium running and delivered this inserting TED talk several years ago:

In the Wild

Oh the Squirrel. My nemesis in the yard pillaging the bird feeders and outsmarting my attempts to keep them off. In the wild away from the city they are (serious hesitation)  cute and this guy munching a pine cone as the November sky says time to fatten up brought a smile to my face.
