This was a nice way to start a long and tedious 9 hour drive. With fog hanging low in a forest of burnt trees the sun and blue sky make there way in. Happy Monday to all.

Where River Meets Sea
Standing in a river as it flows into the sea on a beautiful sunny summer day in East Greenland. A wide angle view puts things into perspective.
On Mt Evans
The light is changing up high, longer shadows on the rocks, a bit of that winter harshness. Crazy clouds swirl above Mt Evans on a weekend hike above treeline. Soon it will be time to trade the hiking boots for skis.
Warming
Although striking a similar pose to the chillin’ Prairie Dog posted earlier this week, this Red Bellied Marmot was warming in the rays of the sun, which is slowly loosing that heating power, after a early fall snow blankets the high country the previous day.
Dusting
It was cloudy and cold all day but as evening approached the clouds were on their way out, blue sky moving in and just a dusting of snow on the peaks in the distance. Morning will be crisp and the sky clear as a bell.
Fall Bouquet
Some bouquets are better unpicked, perfectly arranged as they are and not found in any store.
TIQRIGANIANNIG
I have been trying to find the Greenlandic Inuit words used for the animals I saw on last summers kayak trip to East Greenland. The word Tiqiganiannig is what I get from Professor Google for the Arctic Fox. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it. This Arctic Fox was enjoying the sunlight with a blue sea behind on a wonderful summer day in East Greenland.
Ridge Walk
While hiking up high on the ridges on a cloudy fall day a few weeks ago we could really feel fall was on the way. Near Crested Butte, CO.
Fall Pinhole Triptych
I was having a difficult time seeing into the film advance window on my pinhole camera so I just had to wing it and count turns of the film advance knob. The frames ran together producing this triptych of beautiful fall fireweed and other fall splendid colors. Controlled chaos or a happy accident?
Pika
We spent an hour or so watching this guy collecting leaves for the winter larder. A sure sign change is coming.
