Just up the road is an adventure waiting to happen. It doesn’t really matter what road just a road you like to travel.
Have a wonderful weekend.
A small herd of elk enjoys the spotlight as sunlight finds its way through a break in the clouds near the days end.

I never tire of the brilliant color of a Male Western Tanager. We recently got to see a nice group of 5-6 males hanging out in trees of a thickly forested area. They were busy moving about foraging but luckily we did get a nice photo or two when they moved between the branches whereas the females although present remained quite hidden.
Hearing the Chickadees calling in the trees above our heads we expected to look up and see either a black-capped or mountain chickadee as we had seen them earlier this day. However to our surprise we we greeted by this little Chestnut-Backed Chickadee looking down at us and hunting insects just above our heads.
The all about birds website starts their description of this bird by calling them handsome and I would have to whole heartedly agree with that.

A male American Redstart full of color and song on a cool early summer afternoon. Never one to sit still for long this little guy was both a frustration and joy to watch and photograph.

Swan River National Wildlife Refuge.
Skunks may not smell so sweet but you have to give them a “10” for looks.
For us Skunks are smelled more than seen so it was nice to see one in daylight wandering about looking for a meal. Anyone out there have any good stories about skunk encounters to share? Mine mostly involve dogs getting sprayed and the resultant tomato juice bath for the poor pooch.
