Looking not the least bit scruffy at all with clean beak and perfect feathers. This was one well kept Raven who was more than willing to pose for a a few photos as they enjoyed a sunny perch on a crisp autumn afternoon.

Working their way through a pile of sunflower seed one nut at a time. We love having the Red Breasted Nuthatches around as company. By mid-October most of the migrating species have flown the coop for warmer climates but these little guys stick around all year long. Everything about them from their song to their perky behavior helps to brighten even the cloudiest day.

October light brightens the morning as a Red Winged Blackbird perches in a bush of golden leaves. The leaves were falling just as fast as the colors were fading from the wings of this beautiful bird.

The October clouds just seem to move faster, get bigger and always seem just a bit darker. A time between the bluebird skies of summer and the socked-in days of winter. A little of each yet nothing like either.
October clouds reflected in the Lamar Valley.
Happy Friday and a good weekend to all.

Spending time watching the clouds and light change on at Iron Spring Creek. Autumn grass and sky were on display and ever changing just as the weather was that day.
While looking south the clouds filled then left the sky to various degree in just 15 minutes time.

Then turning to look north the sky was gray and filled with soft clouds…

…but within 15 minutes a bit of blue filled the sky and color filled the landscape at Iron Spring Creek on this early October day.

A Fine looking Bull Elk peeking out from the sagebrush on an early October day. Eating all he can before the rut begins in earnest. We wish him well and a bit of luck when needed.

A ponderosa pine strong and silent sits high upon the Blacktail Plateau.
Welcome to October.
