Busted

Busted

The looks says it all. This Jay had his back to me so I was trying to sneak up on him and focus on his very colorful tail feathers. Needless to say he was on to me.

How’d you get the shot? Every time I try to sneak up on the one’s in the yard, they take to the sky so quickly I get a blur… if anything.

    1. Hi Eliza, only got his yellow eye cause I was busted. We don’t have tons of Jays around only a couple of pair that patrol the neighborhood so when they stop by it is a pleasure. Hope you had a great weekend.

          1. I couldn’t agree more the Jay is just being a Jay. I really enjoy watching them and how they communicate between each other letting the family group know where each of them is. It is really quite impressive behavior.

          2. I believe they are corvids, right? and crows are also fascinating in their familial communication. Sometimes in the late afternoons I’ll listen to several family groups call to one another across the valley- I call it the “4 o’clock news”!

          3. I think they are indeed corvids as well as magpies and crows. The 4 o’clock new sounds great. I usually hear them in my neck of the woods in the morning. It is interesting that the birds which poses an intelligence level closer to humans are considered a nuisance. Just thinking out loud there. 🙂

          4. It would be a great psyche study, don’t you think? Humans and the animals they consider a ‘nuisance’ – (given the parameters, we could put our species at the top of the list!)

LOL! Busted indeed. I think he’s giving you the stink eye. 🙂 I’m glad you were still able to get a nice photo of him. 🙂

LOL! I don’t know where that term is from but have always heard it — “the stink eye,”. which I think is probably better than “the evil eye”. 😀
