Spring Hawk

We found this hawk hanging out in a tree surveying the fields below for a quick meal of baby prairie dogs which seemed to have all been born this week.Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife refuge.

I love hawks. Not sure why but always amazed and excited to see them, especially in the city. I never think of them as city birds but they are in my neck of the woods — looking so serious. Looking for food. πŸ™‚

    1. My favorite hawk and city experience was when I was walking down a busy street in Seattle and came across a huge group of crows making a giant ruckus. They had trapped a Coopers Hawk in a tree and surrounded him. I think I still have a recording of the noise on my phone.

Wow! Now, THAT’S a story! I didn’t know the crows were so tough and not scared of the hawk. So, what happened? What did the crows do? What did the hawk do?
