One of many hoo doo’s in the making along the spines and ribs of baked earth leading towards the top of Mt Garfield. A fun hike in a strange and wonderful landscape. Palisade, CO.
Hi, I have hiked a bit in NM and in a similar landscape near Gallup. It is like being on another planet and most of all it is great to realize how diverse our wonderful planet is. Hope you are having a great day.
Amazing terrain.
I agree, strange yet still part of our wonderful planet.
Very unique cliffside, and fantastic photo, Mike.
Thanks Jet, this landscape is right of the interstate and I have driven right by for years without stopping to explore. Glad I did this time.
Very cool. We have some areas here in NM with hoo doos. It’s like being on a different planet.

I also live in the land ofhoo doo’s http://www.tourismkamloops.com/hoodoos-in-kamloops-bc. It always makes me laugh.
That’s a cool link. The geology must be similar and follow a pattern along the rockies. Hope to make it up there to hike some day.
