And those colors really were just as they were somewhat muted but vibrant nonetheless. It is amazing how early 1900’s art and the colors used to paint and draw the landscape somehow just seem more true to life.
HI the frogs were very plentiful because of the ponds created by the snowmelt and I read that the water table is very near the surface and water finds it’s way up to create many many ponds. It is a very strange landscape and to hear so many frogs was quite a surprise.
A landscape of stark beauty and expectancy. Reminds me of those early 20th c. hand-colored prints.

Beautiful…though I can’t help but wonder if the frogs don’t need water… Are there springs in this Sandhill landscape?
