Terrifically timed series! I love the coloring on cedar waxwings. Their fine body feathers almost look like velvet and the yellow tail ends and waxy wing tips add such a pop of color. A great subject.
Wonderful photos. The Bohemian Waxwings have not shown up in our neck of the woods this year. During January they will strip the Mountain Ash of it’s berries in record time.
Hi, I heard a report of some Bohemian waxwings in our area a few weeks ago but have not spotted them, This flock also polished off this berry patch in record time that day.
Hi and thanks for the feedback. We had fun watching these guys devour that patch of berries and just got a bit lucky with the camera that day. Hop your well and having a wonderful weekend.
OHMIGOD!! Such timing, such precision, such fabulous photography of nature’s creation!!

Thanks Jim, we were lucky to have these guys around a bit longer this year and actually were able to watch them on more than one occasion.

Gotta thank the bird and whomever controlled the weather that day for those two variables.

HI Eliza, I know what you mean about the feather tips. I would love to collect a sample just to examine them. They sure do look dipped in wax.

Thanks, we only these waxwings transiently each winter but this year the pickings were good and they stayed around longer and gave us quite a show.
