Oh my….however did you get so close? We have a pair that I think will nest here this year. They do their flying dance with each other, which I watch through binoculars. It is spectacular, but I’m never close enough to photograph. This is such a beautiful shot! So clear and detailed. Perfect position. I bet you were thrilled to get it!
Peace
Mary
Hi Mary, well we did not get too close a nice 400mm lens did that for us. It must we exciting to have a pair that is going to nest nearby. It is so much fun to experience the courting, nesting and rearing of chicks as a complete cycle and to see all the behaviors along the way.
Hope your day is going well and wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Oh my my. Look at that beak and that contemplative eye. Gorgeous feathers. Usually I’m admiring a bird’s beauty in flight, but they’re so beautiful still as well, aren’t they?
Lovely shot!

Normally a shot of the back of a subject is not that interesting but this is pretty wonderful.

Thanks David, and perhaps with just that bit of profile and a subtle hint of the birds glance makes the back shot work.

Quiet strength is a nice think to see on display these days. No talk just action and only when needed.
