It must be hard to fly with wings that battered…I wonder if that is the result of weather?

Hi and I think you re correct. This butterfly must have been through a few rough stoms and perhaps some hail? We did see them lift off and fly away.

Yes, this butterfly has been though a bit of adverse condition but we saw them lift off and fly away just as straight and purposeful as a newly born butterfly.

I wonder if it’s camouflage? It looks a bit like a battered fairy hiding in a dead leaf.

They do have a somewhat camouflaged pattern on the outside of their wings the damage was probably due to weather.
