The Joe Pye Weed is in full bloom and this painted Lady Butterfly is happy about that. Although known for attracting butterflies we have noticed others to find Joe Pye quite to their liking as well.

Dragonflies like Joe Pye.

As well as this wasp.
And this lovely looking bee with pincers you don’t want to mess with like Joe Pye.
A hub of activity with lovely flower to boot.

Joe has been visiting here, too.

Wish I could be a bee just so I could call that wonderful flower home. I wonder if they can see blush pink?

It would be wonderful to be able to shrink down a size or tow to experience the world like the smaller creatures do. Wishing you a fine week.

Had to look that one up… I believe it is a leaf cutter bee, or mason bee, a cavity nester.

HI Eliza, it is always good to be given the opportunity to look up new species. That is a plus of photography for sure. Getting to capture an image and not having to capture the insects.

Terrific images, Mike. I love the Joe Pye weed– it looks like a rug. ๐ The insects are awesome.

Thanks Jane, Joe Pye is quite the hit with the insects this time of year and given how busy the insects are it makes photographing fairly easy.

Your Joe Pye looks very similar to our Hemp Agrimony – I believe they’re from the same family. Ours is very popular with insects too ๐ https://blog.suzyblue.org.uk/2018/07/29/small-copper-2/

Hi Suzy, I had not heard of Hemp Agrimony but after looking at your photos it looks remarkable similar to our Joe Eye and both seem to attracting skippers as well.
