A white tailed buck slowly moves slowly through the fields of dried grass foraging on a few green shoots and the remains of a rocky mountain bee plant.
A regal fellow with head held high.
And a wonderful sight that brought some light to a cloudy gray afternoon.

I wonder if a rival male deer would ignore those antlers as we might ignore them?

He definitely has a regal rack. There was something quite vulnerable about him as well–perhaps from not knowing he was observed–just going about his business eating.

Hi, yes deer are hunted with both this time of year. Fortunately for this guy he looks to have survived the hunting season with ended Dec. 1.
