Fall colors in full bloom so to speak up high near Hagerman pass in Central Colorado. It begins up high then works it’s way down the hill. In a week or so the aspen will be glowing yellow and in another week all the colors may be gone.

In The Willows
You never know what you will find hidden in the willows is what this guy was probably thinking when he noticed we were peeking in from the edge of his terrain. It always amazes me just how easy a creature the size of the moose can disappear from your sight with a simple step or two into the willows. Photographed near Cottonwood pass in Colorado.
Nesting in Precarious Places
Well the Killdeer was in fact hiding something. After the outburst displayed in yesterdays photo, we retreated letting the Killdeer have its peace but on the way out we stumbled into their nest full of eggs being incubated by one of the pair. The nest, just a little pile of pebbles, was located about a foot off the small gravel road we were driving away on. If we could speak Killdeer we would have let this pair know the nest site was not in the best location for dealing with humans in cars like us. We sure hope the eggs developed without incident.
