Stormy Seas
Waiting for the storm to clear felt like forever and a day.
Yet as a storm arrives it brings with it the next sunny day.

A bit of sunshine
An American Robin dressed in his winter coat brings a bit of sunshine to a very grey January day. We usually don’t have quite this level of grey here in Colorado like we had last weekend so I am grateful the sun has returned this week.
May your days be filled with sunshine and may Robins fill your trees.

January Afternoon
Oh it’s still winter, but even on an early January afternoon you can feel spring inching ever closer. The shadows cast from the trees are still long. There is still plenty of snow on the ground yet change is in the air on this January afternoon.
Winter Wonderland
Out on a cross country ski near biscuit basin in Yellowstone NP. What is not to love, bison, geysers and sunlight just peeking out from behind the clouds.
As the winter sun sets
Even the icicles freeze up and stay quiet for the night.
The Juncos are all puffed out and tucked into the spruce tree.
While I prepare to take the shape of a human next to the fire.
A quiet start
After the hoopla it’s nice to have a nice quiet start to the New Year.

You might not be able to see into the distance but there is still plenty to look at.
Rocks, water fog and sea.
And so it goes
As sure as the sun sets and waves come and go.
Another calendar year passes
May your 2017 be full of wonder with more ups than downs along the way.

Scruffy
On Saturday at mid-morning we spotted this Coopers hawk tidying up a bit on a broken old Cottonwood branch. He looked like he has had a bit of a rough time lately with his feathers looking downright scruffy. After a half hour or so of preening his feathers were back in fine order and he was off again hunting in nearby woods.
