A male house finch enjoying the ever earlier sunrise as spring marches onward. With rare exception early April seems to mark the time of year we begin to see and hear the finches in our neighborhood each year and as the sun rises earlier everyday they provide a warm welcome to those still crisp but beautiful spring mornings.

I think we had some of the anticipation as well waiting from this guy to burst out in a lovely finch song but alas he just stood silent welcoming the warming rays of the morning sun.

For us the primary song bird in our trees so we really like them quite a bit. On yesterdays walk the trees were filled with grackles squeaking about so a little tune by a finch in the years was a welcome sound.
