Land in Sky

More_sky_than_land

Sometimes it takes an uncluttered landscape to see that land and sky are one.

Northern New Mexico. Photographed with a Yashica A-TLR and Kodak Tmax 100iso film.

  1. Although an inanimate subject, but one feels that the cloud is racing to somewhere…and the dark background adds to the dramatic effect. I like that picture.

    1. Thanks Alix, the light and clouds in NM always seem to beg to be photographed. Although similar to other places in the west it is also different in some magical way. Hope your day is going well.

    1. Hi Paula, clouds and just the sky are interesting to look at and so filled with light, shaper and movement and to somehow get to the pint where we don’t view the world as earth and sky but perhaps earth in sky is something the resonates and would be great to be able to express in photograph.

          1. Have 2 areas we like in N.Mexico. Between Clovis & Portales on Hwy 70 is a little State Park called Oasis. Nothing fancy, just a little oasis in that desert area. Then out of Socorro going West on Hwy 60 is another camp area around Datil Well B.L.M. Rec Site. Also like Albuquerque area. Least favorite place in N.M. is Gallup.

  2. The first thing coming to my mind when I saw this picture already a week ago was “cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown”, but I thought it might not fit here and searched for a different thing to say, before life swept me away again. But now that I look at it again… same reaction. So.. sorry, when it’s not really fitting, my brain does strange things sometimes. 😉

      1. Oh. A reward? Uhm… well, then… erm… see that little dark mini-cloud almost in the middle of the photo, next to the very dark patch of clouds? So THIS particular mini-cloud is now part of a river again. Ahem. 😉

Oh, and… what is the reward? 😉

(P.S.: That really made me smile 😀 )
