The Canada goose seems to be mirroring my thoughts as a very infrequent visitor stops by the local pond this day. We perhaps see one or two Red Breasted Mergansers per winter and this was our lucky day. Denver, CO.
Hi, Glad you got to see a few common mergansers this winter. We have yet to spot any but I know there are a few around. How has the winter been in Northern Utah this year?
Sounds like similar weather to what we are having in the front range of CO. A bit of snow but not really feeling like a true winter this year. But things change and perhaps the snow is yet to come.
Nice capture/composition.

I love these birds! I’ve only seen them once myself… I did see a Common Merganser a few weeks ago here in Northern Utah.

Relatively mild so far… We’ve had snow, but it hasn’t been as cold as it usually is. Those Mergansers are few and far between!

It was a Sunday morning and he did look tired so perhaps perhaps a case of Sunday morning bedhead.

Beautiful shot of the merganser. Maybe the goose is just photo bombing.

Hi Eliza, mergansers do have fine hair-do’s and that is his natural color.
