If there are any sparrow experts out there correct me if I am wrong but I believe this is a Lark Sparrow. This was the first time I have seen, or perhaps noticed, one of these guy out at Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. It is always fun to see a new bird.

Yes, always fun to see a new bird! Nice shot!

What a cute little bird! I can’t tell one sparrow from another. Well, I know the difference between some of the little migratory birds and the English sparrows, but that’s about it. There are fox sparrows and …goodness, I don’t know, but this little bird is something. A good shot.

HI, I am in the same boat unless I get a photo and can study and compare it to the reference photos. Otherwise I have a hard time with sparrow ID.

Yes, that is a lark sparrow. A striking bird. Did you hear their unique song? It’s difficult to describe. Go listen to it at allaboutbirds.org if you haven’t heard it.
