Decembers Light

December_pond
The mid-December sun, traveling low across southern sky casts long shadows on the icey blue face of a small pond and gently lights the landscape beyond. Decembers light is like no other and helps me keep track of the time like no wall calendar or wristwatch can.

It’s like all of nature is waiting, sleeping and resting from the years flurry of growth and then the small death of winter, ready to come forward with new life in the spring. Great composition, and truly winters light.

      1. Thanks Mike life here in southern Western Australia is cranking up for the tourist onslaught for Christmas… Beach weather… And the sun is finally breaking through. Can’t wait to see what you post next 🙂

        1. I am always torn on the beach holiday, sometimes it sounds great sometimes not so great. I do hope you enjoy the warmth and beach and avoid the rush of the tourists. I am doing a little snow dance as we are a little thin on the white stuff right now. Cheers.

  2. I can almost feel the cold when I look at this amazing shot. Thank you for capturing the unique qualities of winter light to share with us. I hope you got your White Christmas! Here we had to wait until midnight on Christmas Eve for it to finally start snowing. (And then it wouldn’t stop, we ended up with a foot of snow! ) I guess we have to be careful what we wish for 😉 A day on the beach is sounding pretty good about now!

    1. HI, we just got a little dusting and actually would like for a couple of feet just to get snowed in and soled down for a bit…then a day at the beach. Hope your day was fine and your 2017 your finest year yet.
