Just when you think you are sneaking up nicely to get a good close up this hawk takes notice with a 180 degree turn on the head. I wonder what it would be like to have eyes in the back of your heads. Maxwell wildlife refuge, Maxwell NM.

This year the spring rains have been generous and brought an abundance of Wild Iris to the high arid grasslands of Northern Colorado. Will the wet summer continue or will things dry out. Only time will tell.

Just over the hill
The spring storms keep rolling in and this one is just over the hill. The spring rains provide wetland habitat for migratory birds and a welcome drink for the high sagebrush landscape of Arapahoe National Wildlife refuge near Walden, Colorado.
