We spent Memorial Day weekend out looking for migratory birds in Northern Colorado. This May it has been unusually cold and snowy and Memorial day weekend was no exception as one after another we were hit by short storms dropping a little Graupel and then blowing quickly out. We must have experienced about 10-15 in one single day. It was clear summer will come a bit latter this year to the high plains in North Park, CO.

When hunting for limpets it’s all about technique and these two Oyster Catchers seem to have it down. Slide bill under sand and pry limpet up, eat and repeat….limpets beware.

With the trees budding out and the air warming up a little Chickadee enjoy their perch on a Saturday afternoon.
Each partially hidden within the grass we were content to observe each other for quite some time. Eventually hunger got the best of us and I headed home for dinner and the coyote off to hunt.
