Early November has been kind. A full spectrum of color remains in the woods from green to yellow to deep rich red. The cottonwood leaves have all come down allowing the bark to shine and the branches to dance in blue skies and warm temperatures of a very long indian summer. Winter plans to make an appearance in a big way this week with cold temps that will surely cause the remaining leaves to fall. Autumn appears to be falling into winter. Photographed on the Wheat Ridge Green Belt, Wheat Ridge, CO.

What a beautiful photo. I like the bits of color that remain.

The remaining colors are indeed wonderful and the contrast between those colors that remain and those which are gone really let me know it is November. Hope your day is going well.

I like the contrasts of bark, shrubbery and the last remnants of foliage holding on for dear life. Old man winter will win eventually. Nice!

Good morning, yes it is the contrasts which speak to me in this landscape telling me what time of the year without even having to look at a calendar and yes, winter is coming probably this afternoon. π

Beautiful photo! I love cottonwood trees – the way the leaves sound when there is a breeze, they softly ‘clack’.

HI and thanks for the thoughtful feedback. Cottonwood trees are our favorite as well. The bark is so textured and the leaves in fall really unique. Sometimes when you hold them up to the sun you can see what look like gold crystals. Thanks again and have a great day.
