Every winter there seems to be a single wood duck couple inhabiting the stretch of the south platte river we visit to photograph the waterfowl that overwinter in the area. This years is no exception.

Interesting. Blessings, Natalie 🙂
Thanks Natalie, hope you are doing great and having a good start to the new year.
Maybe it’s a territorial issue. How wonderful that you can see and appreciate their beauty each year. 🙂
I think you are right on with the territory issue. It is fun to be able to watch the same area year after year and begin to be able to see patterns in nature. Thanks for the feedback it is really appreciated. Have a great evening.
Love these two together…so pretty
I like them too. It is nice to be able to photograph the pair.
Very nice capture. They mate for life, don’t they?
HI, not sure if they mate for life. It is fun to be able to see a pair in the same area yearly. I would like to follow them to see if they stay and nest in the area but have yet to do so.
A nice-looking pair. 🙂
Indeed
a homecoming i suppose, happy christmas
Thanks and have a very merry christmas yourself.
Nice photo. What is it about wood ducks that makes them so adorable? They are just so cute!
Those males are so extravagant and the female practical?
We see far more males than females in our creek every winter. Looks like yours is no longer ‘single.’ Boo yah, little guy!
I always enjoy your pictures, Mike, but don’t always get the chance to comment thoughtfully. Keep up what you do and enjoy the holidays!
Thanks Shannon, we will keep doing what we love to do and hope you do the same. Wishing you a wonderful holiday time yourself.
