The morning sun rising above the steam, fog and lodgepole pines on a very cold morning in Yellowstone National Park. Photographed on the fly while heading towards the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone using my phone.

A splash of warm color for a chilly Monday morning. Even though we had mostly hazy skies the last time we visited Utah the color in the rock and soil still shone through.Taken on a morning hike in Bryce Canyon National Park, UT.

Strutting their stuff

Strutting their stuff

Two male goldeneyes working hard to impress a female in the late afternoon light. These guys will likely only be around here a few more weeks. As spring arrives most of the waterfowl leave my area. Their yearly coming and going gives rhythm to life. Have a great trip north and someday I hope to join you.

Seeing a Great Blue Heron take flight on a cold snowy day is a sure way to cure those mid-winter blues. Clear Creek in Denver, CO.

The unseasonably warm weather we are having has left me feeling that I should be seeing more birds on my daily walk. To fill the void until spring actually returns this photograph we took last spring of a nice looking Male Yellow Headed Blackbird will have to do the trick.

A beautiful thermal pool reflecting what little sun could find its way through the overcast afternoon sky. Yes, there can be color on a cloudy day. On the way back to the Upper Geyser Basin after skiing out to Fairy Falls. Yellowstone National Park, 2015.

Frosty_morning_fog_1

Rising in the east and obscured behind thick fog, the winter sun lights an old cottonwood tree covered in delicate hoar frost. Once the fog lifted it only took a couple of hours of sunlight to melt the frost away. Temporal, fractal art at is finest. Grand Teton National Park, WY.

View from Tasillaq

Remerging the feeling of the view from Tasiilaq, Greenland on a mid-summers day makes me want to travel today.
